The Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Taavi Aas visited the Netherlands on Nov 1-3, 2021 with a business delegation. The focus of the three-day visit was on sharing experiences in the field of renewable energy and strengthening energy co-operation between Estonia and the Netherlands.
Highlights of the visit:
🔹 Minister Aas met the Dutch Minister for Energy and Climate, Dilan Yesilgoz-Zegerius.
🔹 A visit took place to the offshore wind farm in Friesland, built by Van Oord, who is also involved in the development of the Saaremaa offshore wind farm. The port of Eemshaven, which accounts for a third of Dutch energy production and is home to one of the world’s leading wind energy producers, RWE, was also visited.
🔹 Various hydrogen projects of the Port of Amsterdam and the Hydrogen Valley in Groningen were introduced to the delegation. They also visited the New Energy Coalition research center, which conducts research and development work on hydrogen solutions, and Resato International, which is an active founder of hydrogen filling station infrastructures and will open the first hydrogen filling station in the Hydrogen Valley. There is great interest in the Dutch experience, because we are also making the first attempts to introduce hydrogen in Estonia.
🔹 REDstack was visited, which produces blue energy (energy generated by mixing seawater and freshwater). In addition, the delegation met with the Mayor of Groningen and various energy companies who shared their experiences.
