On January 31, Marko Raad’s new film “8 Views of Lake Biwa” was presented at the Rotterdam International Film Festival (IFFR). It was a world premiere, where the film’s director and screenwriter Marko Raat was also present.
“8 Views of Lake Biwa ” is a screenplay that translates old Japanese love stories into the language of the longings and desires of Peipsi fishermen and their children. The state of mind of the film’s main characters is examined through eight oriental poetic motifs: sailboats returning home, twilight red, first snow, night rain, autumn full moon, temple bell, sudden gust of wind, wild geese flying away.
