European Parliament elections 2024

The European Parliament elections will be held in Estonia on June 9, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. During the election week from June 3 to June 9, citizens permanently living abroad can also vote at all polling stations in Estonia. You can find more information about the elections here:| Valimised Eestis

Both Estonian citizens permanently living abroad and voters temporarily staying abroad who are entered in the list of voters have the right to vote abroad.

There are three ways to vote in the Netherlands:

  • 1) Electronically: you can vote by using the voter application on the website www.valimised.ee from 9.00 a.m. on 3 June 2024 until 8.00 p.m. on 8 June 2024. I-voting requires a secure computer with an internet connection and an ID card with a reader or a mobile-ID with PINs. Read more: E-voting | Elections in Estonia
  • 2) At the Embassy (foreign mission) of the Republic of Estonia in the Netherlands (Zeestraat 92, 2518 AD, The Hague) on two days: Monday, May 27, 2024 from 14.00 to 18.00 and Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 9.30 to 14.30.
  • 3) To vote by post, send a voting request Kirja-teel-haaletamise-taotlus-EP-2024 by letter to the foreign mission at Zeestraat 92, 2518 AD, The Hague, The Netherlands or electronically to the email address of the foreign mission: [email protected] by May 10, 2024 at the latest. Late applications will be disregarded. A copy of your identity document must be attached to the application form.
    • A voting request and a copy of the identity document may also be submitted via e-mail:[email protected]. If the voting request is sent in the form of a simple e-mail (i.e. unsigned), it will be accepted if the request was sent from the applicant’s address and a scanned (or photo) copy of the identity document is attached to it.
    • Based on the voting request, the following will be sent to you by mail for voting: a ballot paper, envelopes and an aggregate list of candidates.
    • When voting by mail, proceed as follows:
      • Write the registration number of your chosen candidate in the space provided on the ballot paper.
      • Place the completed ballot paper in the smaller (inner) envelope sent to you by the foreign mission.
      • Place the small envelope in the larger (outer) envelope sent to you by the foreign mission.
      • Write your name and personal identification code on the outer envelope.
      • Send the ballot paper in the two envelopes by post to the foreign mission by May 24, 2024 at the latest.

An Estonian citizen will not be included in the list of Estonian voters or will be removed from it if the person has been included in the list of voters of another EU member state during the European Parliament elections (on the basis of information received from another member state). Changes will be made to the list of voters from May 10, 2024. Citizens of the European Union can vote at the Embassy (foreign mission) if a corresponding application has been submitted to the State Election Service by May 10, 2024 and they have been entered in the Estonian list of voters.

REMINDER

  • Please check in advance that your identity document is valid on the day of voting.
  • If you wish to vote electronically, check that you have valid PINs.
  • In order to vote, a person must be at least 18 years old and be included in the list of voters, which means that they must have a residential address entered in the population register. A person may vote in European Parliament elections in only one Member State.
